Had an Accident on the Way to a Meeting this Morning!

OK.  Here goes my day, everyone.  I got up at 5:00 am, because I had to be at a meeting that is 1 hour and 40 mins from home.  I live in a VERY rural area, so 45 miles of the 90- mile trek is twists and turns that make my MIL from upstate NY hold on to the doors in fear for her life when we drive her anywhere around here.  The other 45 is Interstate.

Anyway, it was raining like nothing else and I hit a turn with mud in it.  Water and mud act like ice when you hit a turn on good ol’ WV Route 20.  I skidded sideways into a yellow mustang that was parked beside a house in the turn.  I tell you had that car not been there, I would have ended up in the house.  I tried to wake up the owner, but no one would come to the door.  I kept yelling into an open window…”Excuse me.  I hit your car…”  No one budged.  I kept envisioning someone lurking around the woods watching me and getting a huge kick out of the whole scene. I left a note on the car (hoped the rain didn’t ruin it) and called the police to report it. I drove on to the meeting.  Made it with time to spare.  Of course, the first thing I wanted to do was get something to eat - and I had just had breakfast.  Thank goodness I recognized the trigger and refrained from eating, but the addict in me wanted food for comfort, I tell ya.

Well, a woman finally called my cell and was so nice.  I had hit her ex-husband’s car and she was laughing her butt off.  He was there with her at her house because he doesn’t have a phone and is hard of hearing (explains him not coming to the door).  The insurance adjuster is going to take care of both cars and no one was hurt.  I swear I did not even feel the impact of the crash.  I had coffee and an open can of pop in the car and nothing even spilled.  It was like I hit a pillow, but I figure a pillow would cost much less to replace than the damages - once the bill comes in for the repairs to both of our passenger side lights and fenders.

Oh boy!  What a day!  But I have stayed OP and my husband and kids now have something to rag on me about for a while.  They seem to get a kick out of momma making a mistake.  And NO ONE WAS HURT!  PRAISE GOD!

I’m so glad no one was hurt. Even so, it’s no fun getting in an accident. Amazing you recognized your trigger for what it was, and even better you fought it off. Good job. That was surely a test of your commitment, and you passes with flying colors!

Wow! That’s an exciting day! I’m thankful you weren’t hurt and that the damages were relatively light.

You rock! Recognizing the trigger and response to the stress in a situation like that is fantastic. If you get that wiring diagram figured out you can prevent almost any food-stress reaction. Good job!
